"A chair is a very difficult object. A skyscraper is almost easier. That is why Chippendale is famous.” - Mies Vander Rohe
Inspiration can be from anywhere- gherkins, nests, birds, flowers- anywhere!
In this case the obvious centipede we found on site on our very first site visit. this large bodied insect with featherlike tiny legs-It almost looked like someone was trying to run away or rather crawl away from this space. An idea became a concept and soon a sketch and developed into a full blown furniture piece- The Centipede Table.
The centipede table true to its name comprises of a heavy teak wood work top with a discreet stationery flap and thin tendril like hollow copper legs, branching in different directions , thus giving an illusion of a crawling centipede. An in built lamp on one side with an integrated bookshelf and almost inconspicuous drawer are housed inside the table.
